Photographing children is one of my favorite adventures. It’s all about capturing who your children are and who your family is at that moment. Messy, giggly, chaotic, sassy, and shy. I’ve been a professional photographer since 2004, and running my own photography business since 2007. I still photograph some of those very first family clients. My favorite emails to receive are the ones that say, “You have captured the crazy, sweet energy of my kids” or “You ABSOLUTELY captured the essence of the kids.” Thirty years from now, these photos will tell a really important story to your adult children, and it’s my job to help tell it.
I also love music, specifically classic rock and the singers and songwriters of the 1970s (Kenny Loggins and Stevie Nicks fans, unite!). I have no musical talent (unless I count my stellar singing skills in Rock Band, and I sometimes do). I love movies. I love television. I spent six years of higher education studying them. It is easier for me to tell you what I don’t watch on TV than it is for me list all the shows I watch regularly. I’d say it’s my guilty pleasure, except I don’t feel guilty about it at all. My lifelong challenges include not knowing how to whistle or how to properly swallow pills. Photographing food for a cookbook inadvertently led to me becoming less of a picky eater and more of a “foodie.” It also led to me eating things like live clams and beef heart. My hair is very curly and strangers occasionally feel the need to stop and ask about it. Bolder people sometimes ask if they can touch it!
